In Windy Bay,
the site of the Lyell Island logging blockades of the mid 1980's ,
children of the original Haida activists that stopped clear cut logging,
are creating the first ceremonial pole created and erected in Gwaii Haanas in over 150 years.
We were there for a small part of the final carving work before it was to be erected on August 15th.
I thought again,
of the standing forest,
and the fallen one...
And the new poles of memory, forgiveness and the future...
