Fall has been spectacular this year in the Okanagan,
and I have been fortunate to experience it.

the forest

Millions of Sockeye Salmon have fought their way 500 kilometers up the Fraser River from the sea,
and come to this one place for the end of their lives,

On a 5 kilometer sketch of the Adam's River,
the salmon fight for spawning rights,
and the search for the right gravel bed.

Life's garden...

My father died two weeks ago.
But as my mother starts her new life without him,
and my siblings and I return to our own lives,
there will remain a piece missing.

But room enough,
for a new branch to grow.

Just as more then 10 years ago when the mother of my children died,
leaving behind a great hole,
that we all tried in our own ways,
to cover over.

My sisters and I spent a lot of time in the hospital with our Dad,
as his cancer slowly took him away from us.
But on one particular day, I looked out the window of his room.

There is so much beauty in the every day,
even when life feels unfair
there are moments,
when the ordinary seems extraordinary.

as he began his journey to the next world.
